Tasting of new lines of full bodied vitolas
Posted October 25, 2003
Few brands from Dominican Republic are in the
process to market new lines of full bodied vitolas. We decided to
give their chance to these new cigars. So we did taste two of these
new products: the Robusto
fromThe Griffin's (Fuerte line) and the Stout
from Zino Platinum (Scepter series).
One of these two challengers was
betting on the force, with the detriment of any other quality. It
was disappointing and very limited. The other one had an honourable
behavior and was perfectly balanced.

posted in the Aficionado's Corner.

in London and will be organized by Habanos S.A official distributor
for English market (Hunter and Frankau) on November 10, 2003. After

New Rules at the Customs Posted
October 19, 2003
Habanos S.A. and the General Customs of the Republic
of Cuba join efforts in the struggle against forgeries.
The new Resolution No. 41-2003, issued by the General Division of
Cuban Customs, reinforces the regulations for taking rolled cigars
out of Cuba. From October 8, all Cuban or foreign travelers, at
the departure from Cuba, are obliged to declare orally to Customs
if they are carrying any rolled cigars. According to this new Resolution,
all travelers are obliged to present the copy of the original purchasing
invoice issued by the shops authorized, provided that they are carrying
in their luggage more than 23 units of rolled cigars. The rolled
cigars must be in their original packaging with all official labelling,
including the new holographic seal.
The non-fulfilment of these requirements will imply confiscation
of the goods by the National Customs of the Republic of Cuba.
For ladies Posted September 16, 2003
"Now ladies discover the adventure of smoking
cigars". Aïda C. Le Pesqueur, a French and Austrian citizen
living in Germany, presents a cigar made by women for women.
La Baronessa Del Tabaco is a light
aromatic cigar without any addition of perfume. It's made with hondurian
tobacco, wrapped by torcedoras from Cuba.

The Davidoff Exhibition Posted
October 10, 2003
We're back from the Davidoff Exhibition
who took place in Lausanne during the last week. At this occasion,
we had the opportunity the see in European preview the new products
prepared by Davidoff.
Be prepared for something new and non-conventional.
Zino is about to launch a new line of cigars (already available
in USA): Zino Platinum. The Crown Series
shows 3 full bodied cigars, the Scepter Series
has 5 virolas, made with the same tobacco but their price is more
affordable.
The originality of this new line comes from the blend
of these cigars:
Filler
75% of Dominican ligero (strong aromas)aged up to 5 years.
25% of tobacco grown in Peru, aged up to 4 years.
Binder
Connecticut grown in USA, aged up to 4 years.
Warper
Connecticut growed in Equator, aged for 2 years.
Crown Series
The modules of this line have an extraordinary appearence. They
are just master pieces. These outstanding cigars are shaped with
brand new criterias. The Chubby Especial is a fat
boy with pointed ends (5 7/8" 61). The Stretch
is a giant figurado(8 1/4" 50). The Double Grande
is a bit shorter than a double corona (7 1/2 50).
These cigars will be sold in single or packed in aluminium
boxes by 3 units.
Scepter Series
This line will be more affordable. The cigars will be packed in
metalic jars with a pop up lid. Chubby is a bit
shorter than the Chubby Especial, Grand
Master is a tall robusto, Stout is a convex
piramide, Low Rider is a fat corona grande, and
Shorty is a fat petit corona.
As soon as we'll taste these new Zino Platinum, we'll
post some comments.
The official website of the Crown and Scepter Series
is zinoplatinum.
The Griffin's
Did you heard about the new Fuerte
line from The Griffin's? We got some of theses

Rumors Posted May 6, 2003
Skepticism about the new Edicion Limitada 2003.
Rumours imply that we should not expect to see some of these vitolas
at a time. It seems that Habanos is using the warpers (supposedly
requested for Montecristo B and Partagas Serie D N°2) for another
production. The availability of the Edicion
Limitada 2003 is not clear for now.
